A former American diplomat, a foreign policy expert, observed, "Putin is attempting to derail the momentum toward increased sanctions on Russia." He added, "We'll see on Friday, but the chances of achieving a truce by pressuring Russia to engage sincerely seem to have decreased."

This development followed Trump had recently been strengthening his rhetoric toward Russia until Thursday's conversation with Putin, which the Kremlin described as "extremely open and trustful."

European Fuel Restrictions and Market Effects

The European Union have established a requirement for fuel importers into the EU to demonstrate their fuels are not made from Russian oil, as stated in a document released on recently. This measure is included in the EU's forthcoming ban on imports of fuels processed from Russian petroleum, which forms part of its latest restrictive measures against Russia over its military actions in Ukraine.

Market analysts noted that trading patterns appeared to be considering the potential reduction of India's purchases of Russian oil. Several Indian refiners are preparing to reduce purchases from Russia, with projections of a phased reduction, according to sources knowledgeable about the situation.

"This represents a favorable turn for the oil market as it would eliminate a big buyer of Russian crude," commented Tony Sycamore, noting that oil prices were steady on the trading day.

Security Developments and Energy Attacks

A massive Moscow's drone and missile attack hit gas facilities in Ukraine's eastern regions on the same day, resulting in disruptions in multiple areas. Ukrainian officials reported that Russia launched hundreds of drones and many of missiles, along with aerial munitions.
