The President Calls Relatives of Attacked Military Personnel to White House
Former President Trump announced on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the White House.
He noted that he contacted her parents and they were âheartbrokenâ.
Details on the Devastating Event
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.
White House Offer
The commander-in-chief stated heâs talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.
âI said: âWhen youâre able, because thatâs a difficult moment, come to the White House. Weâre going to honor her,â the president told the press. âAnd similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.â
Public Reaction
Mourners assembled over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.
Both they had been working with the military unit as part of the presidentâs national effort to assist policing efforts in the capital.
Remembering Beckstrom
âSarah was the individual that instructors hoped for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,â Hankins, the principal of her previous school, informed the media. âShe was sweet, compassionate and always ready to help others.â
Memorial plans for Sarah are still being arranged.
Judicial Measures and Government Changes
Law enforcement have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The incident prompted the administration to halt refugee claims and cease granting visas to holders of travel documents.
Condition of Wolfe
The airman, a resident of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.
He remains under medical supervision and is âin a critical fightâ, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey said on television.
The stateâs top lawyer Bondi told the program that she aimed to speak to his relatives.
Legacy of Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with honor, per the state guard.
âShe had a lot of compassion and she certainly had courage,â the governor informed the gathering at the memorial. âThough her life ended too soon, she has made an impact thatâs going to be remembered always.â
