Fresh Details Emerge Regarding the Location of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Recent details have emerged concerning the shocking deaths of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.
The Alarm
As detailed in an account quoting a family associate, a practitioner scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the house. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
Upon entering the residence, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had gone with her promptly called 911. Following this, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, including the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently in custody and denied bail.
Clarifications
The person close to the family also disputed several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.
Furthermore disputed circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement applies to descriptions of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. Although the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they maintained that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some media reports indicated the state of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
