Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors report that a ex- physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
Authorities have asked individuals with information to contact the relevant police force.
