Per new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a two-decade sentence for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a clemency request for review by the Trump administration.

Special Treatment Alleged at Correctional Facility

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a source provided information indicating the inmate is preparing the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the House judiciary committee, stated in a news release that the prison’s warden was assisting the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to aid her effort for executive mercy.

Specific details of the “commutation application” are unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Custom Arrangements

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, Maxwell has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the warden has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for her and her visitors.

The visits allegedly include a designated private space for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also allowed to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and potential for unmonitored communications.

In one alleged instance, when phone lines went down for other inmates, she was provided directions about instructing her associates to contact and how staff would relay the call to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she “essentially used” the official as her private aide.

The news release indicates that Maxwell’s correspondents would email documents directly to the warden, who would hand them over to the inmate, for her to examine and change and return them to the official to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Other privileges reportedly provided to Maxwell include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a benefit typically prohibited – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the presidential office said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the representative noted.

Context and Developments

Recently, reports surfaced that Maxwell told friends and family in emails from prison that she was more content at the Texas facility than her former location.

This past summer, she was moved from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in the state, where most inmates are serving time for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just days after she was interviewed about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, the official, who also previously served as the President's personal lawyer.

That interview came as the administration was facing mounting pressure to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around Trump's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found deceased in custody in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, Raskin also revealed that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and called on the president to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any type of pardon to this convicted and unrepentant criminal,” the representative stated in the document. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any special treatment or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that Blanche attend a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

Raskin asked whether Trump had discussed a possible clemency for Maxwell with the official or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to provide her with the transfer or special conditions in detention, and whether Maxwell, her attorneys, relatives or representatives have made any commitments to Trump or his attorneys.

Raskin has asked for a reply to the questions by the specified date.

Last month, the US supreme court declined to hear an appeal from Maxwell on her sex-trafficking conviction.
