Canada's Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Houston Astros securing the World Series in 2017.

Canada's MLB team reached their maiden Fall Classic after 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing by two runs, the star outfielder hit a three-run home run in the seventh frame, propelling the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a 4-3 triumph in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the anticipated World Series.

"It's incredible for our team, our city, the nation," Springer stated, a star of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "What an amazing experience."

The veteran has now hit 23 post-season home runs, placing him third in history trailing only Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine another player in the world that I want up in that situation other than him with his playoff prowess," noted manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the early in the series, remain the sole team never to appear in a World Series.

Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" in the wake of his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance in the campaign.

"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we ended up on the losing end of this game," he remarked.

Toronto secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
