Members of an Italian family of burglars who stole over £1.2m valued of items, including from ex- NUFC forward Isak, have been mandated to pay back only £1 per person.

Brothers Valentino and Giacomo, their sister Jela Jovanovic and her child Charlie Jovanovic journeyed to the northeastern of England to burgle three houses in spring 2024.

The foursome were imprisoned for from six and 10 years in May 2025.

At a criminal assets proceeding at Newcastle Crown Court, Jela Jovanovic and the Nikolov brothers were ordered to repay £1 each while Charlie Jovanovic must pay over a thousand pounds.

Details of the Break-ins

The court previously heard the gang arrived by ferry in the UK on March 27, 2024 and employed a RV as their "base of operations", which they stationed at Scotch Corner and Durham rest stops while using another car to scout out targets and execute burglaries.

On March 31 they took over £1m of goods such as high-end fashion, purses, jewellery and a honor from a house on Clayton Road in Jesmond, while the owners were away.

The next evening, the gang entered a house on a private road in Whitburn, South Tyneside, and took luxury bags, valuables and shoes worth more than one hundred thousand pounds.

Legal Hearings and Sentencing

Valentino Nikolov had pleaded not guilty to the burglary plot but was convicted by the court, while his three relations had all entered guilty pleas to the identical accusation.
