A Pig's Tale: Hog Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Mayor.
While perhaps not at the identical stature as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miamiâs Little Havana neighborhood.
âThe swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. Her criminal record is spotless,â stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of pardons issued since the commencement of a current administration.
âUnless you count eating six or seven apples per day,â she went on. âI hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.â
The gathering, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.
The pig, donated by a local firefighter, was named for the current slang trend of young people shouting â6-7â â originating from a hip-hop line â often for no discernable reason. The trend became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently declared â6-7â its top term for the year.
A New Life
The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a countryside refuge âfar from charcoal and roasting pansâ, according to the ceremony's official statement.
âThe pig pardon has become a cherished method to kick off the festive period,â said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.
âIt represents the spirit of Miami: happy, diverse, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Annually, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.â
Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
